How many of you have a promise that you feel sure God has spoken? It could be any number of things; a marriage restored, conceiving a baby, a child’s salvation, breakthrough, etc. I think it’s safe to say we all have one.

The key is to keep standing and not backing down, even when we see no sign of the promise in sight.

  • Here are some verses that came to mind (all are NLT translation):

Ephesians 6:12 “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

Daniel 3:18 “But even if he doesn’t, Your Majesty can be sure that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

Ephesians 6:11 “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”

The verse in Daniel really gets my attention. They told the king, “even if“. The king is ready to kill Daniel and his friends for disobedience to the king’s laws but they trusted our Good Father to deliver them. They were ready for anything…even if He would not come through, but we all know that He did. 🙂

If God could not, or would not, fulfill the word He has spoken to each of us, why would He have given it in the first place? His arm is not short and He can (and will) fulfill His purpose for your life.

So keep pressing and do not be afraid and do not back down! There is no need to fear with God on our side. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31b NLT

Friday morning I listened to a podcast by Focus on the Family, and they were talking about “actively waiting“. Love this concept! I believe we need to put action to our faith. What can we practically do to walk toward our promise? Not in a controlling way, but a calm, simple and orderly fashion. We can do something, even if that something is just to pray and fight off feelings of negativity or despair.

Play the part well that God has given you in your season. You can be victorious and become an overcomer. It is possible with His help.
Father, I pray for myself and each one reading this that You would strengthen and empower and equip us to carry out the good works You planned long ago. Let us not lose sight of the promise, and, if we have, let us catch a fresh glimpse of what it is again. We love and trust You. Amen.
