I recall a time when Jonathan, Ayla and I went to dinner and I became unimpressed as I noticed a number of things that were “out of order”. Now, while these little things should not bother me, I believe the Holy Spirit started speaking to me about our lives and order.

When you see an “out of order” sign what kinds of things pop to mind? Annoyance…can’t they afford the time/money to correct this problem?…unruliness…messiness…you get the idea. How often are our lives out of order as well? We ignore things, fail to maintain and fall short. We resort to hanging a sign that reads “out of order” but might as well say, “Don’t come here, things are not right…I can’t let you see this mess…don’t get too close or you’ll see my garbage spilling over.” I hope this is making sense to everyone. I believe God wants us to be more open but we are afraid to expose our vulnerabilities and problems to one another. I know I have been guilty of just this at times. Pride keeps us from opening up and so the problems lie unfixed…much as the toilet at the restaurant…unable to be used for the purpose for which it was created.

I encourage you to step out in faith, open up and begin to trust. Now I am not saying to wear your heart on your sleeve and tell everyone that passes by all your woes. Matthew 7:6 says, “Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you”. This meaning not to trust your valued possessions (in our example, our emotions) to just anyone as that would be unappreciated by most and result in let down. It could also be used against you in the form of gossip, etc. as the people you choose to tell may not have your best interest in mind.

Do pray and ask God to reveal to you a confidant and/or the money and time to visit a counselor. All I know is that we have to let God heal our broken places so that we can totally used up by Him.

God, please help us to use wisdom when selecting someone to confide in. I ask that you bring us all at least one person whom we feel we can trust if we are not already blessed to have that. We thank You for Your healing power and how you orchestrate the different people in our lives to often help facilitate healing in different areas. Of course, we know that this is all originating from You and for that we give You all the glory. We love and we praise You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

  1. Great insight, Mara! I have dealt with this issue of pride and not wanting to be “exposed”. It not only prevented me from receiving Holy Spirit’s help through other people but also caused me to miss opportunities to encourage others.
Thank you again for encouragement to trust God in all things.
